I took a drawing course at Phil Sylvester's The Drawing Studio here on Division Street in Portland.
He teaches that the impediment to creativity isn't technical ability, but one's own disbelief that they have something worthwhile to say.
Suddenly and immediately I was changed. I found that in spite of new art being blurry and rough at first, it could come into focus with enough iterations.
These studies of facial features, to me, are evidence of that shift in my own practice.
